Grace UMC Food Ministry
The Food Ministry is designed to help people that need meals taken to them due to illness, birth of a child, etc. Volunteers sign up into one of six groups (or more) and when a need arises one of the groups takes food to the person or family with the need.
The church staff hears of a need. They contact the Food Ministry Coordinator. The Food Ministry Coordinator contacts the team foreman of the team whose turn it is. The team foreman uses their list to set up the meal. The team foreman will also call the person that will receive the food and coordinate with them the delivery.
Disposable dishes are encouraged so the receiving parties do not have to work to clean or return dishes.
Please call the church office 527-4607 if you would like to be a part of this ministry and provide part of a meal. Also, notify the church office if you have a need or know of a need for meals to be delivered.
Food Donations
The Grace UMC food pantry is available to assist local families when they need help and aren’t able to get assistance anywhere else. We have had several requests recently. Please consider donating some non-perishable food or paper products to the pantry.
We also collect soaps and canned tuna for The Mills County Storehouse. A collection box is by the north door.
What are Pew Mice?
The Worship Committee is making some plans to enhance our hospitality to visitors to our worship services. We are developing some three ring binders to take the place of our registration pads, which will provide information to newcomers.
This will include a map of where everything is in the Church, take home flyers about key ministries, current announcements, as well as registration pages.
We are looking for some volunteers (Pew Mice) who would be willing to change out the old information for the new, each week. (The materials would be provided.) Ask Pastor Dean, or Connie McVay or Susie McPherson all about it.
